Spire Builds started in early 2026 because I (Shane) kept losing Slay the Spire 2 runs and realized the existing guides were either outdated, buried in Reddit threads, or locked behind 40-minute YouTube videos. I wanted fast, searchable answers. So I built this site.

I am not pretending to be the final authority on every patch. Spire Builds is written as a practical notebook for players who want fast, readable strategy advice, with clear notes when Early Access balance may change an answer. The goal is to be useful, current, and honest about uncertainty.

How We Make Guides

Our process is simple but strict:

  1. Practice first: We avoid publishing advice as absolute truth unless it is stable across normal runs or clearly supported by repeatable deckbuilding principles. If a build depends on a narrow relic or card setup, we say so.
  2. Patch-aware: Slay the Spire 2 is in Early Access. Card values, character balance, and mechanics change. We date guides, review important pages after major updates, and avoid overclaiming when information is patch-sensitive.
  3. No regurgitation: We do not copy Steam reviews, Wiki pages, or Reddit comments. If we reference community findings, we credit them and add our own testing.
  4. Update or remove: When a guide becomes outdated, we update it or add a clear deprecation notice. Dead content hurts readers and hurts us.

Who Writes Here

Currently, Spire Builds is mostly a solo project run by me (Shane) with occasional input from friends who also play. I write the guides, test the builds, break the runs, and fix the mistakes. If the site grows, we will add contributors and update this page with their backgrounds.
