The confirmed answer

The official Steam announcement feed was checked again on September 30, 2026. Its latest beta patch entry is still v0.111.0, dated August 14 in China. The September 25 newsletter is newer, but it is not a game patch. This is a fresh source check, not an announcement of new playable content.

The September newsletter says work and internal testing are underway, without an exact timeline. Its creature silhouette is a teaser, not a confirmed encounter guide. The separate Spire Spotting and Neow-lloween submission guide covers the community art prompts.

There was no Slay the Spire 2 patch on August 27, 2026. Mega Crit announced the break in both the v0.111 beta notes and the August Neowsletter. The studio also said it would be at least a month before the new content it is building reaches the beta branch.

That is a lower bound, not a release date. It does not confirm a mid-September patch, a v0.112 label, or one large update containing every roadmap item.

For now, the practical version split remains:

BranchCurrent checked versionBest use
Mainv0.107.1Stable climbs, most Workshop setups, and shared co-op runs
Public betav0.111.0Testing the newest balance changes and reporting feedback
Future updateNot datedDo not build a save or mod plan around it yet

Use the v0.111 strategy guide for the current beta. Use this page for the roadmap boundary: what is confirmed, what is being built, and what is still unknown.

What is actively being developed

The August roadmap names three items under active work:

  • experimental game modes;
  • an alternate Act 2; and
  • a new character.

“Actively working on” is not the same as “coming in the next patch.” Development, beta testing, balance, art, localization, and bug fixing can move on different schedules. Mega Crit did not promise an order or say that these features will ship together.

The safest reading is that the next content phase is larger than another ordinary number-tuning patch. That explains the longer gap, but it does not tell us which feature will be playable first.

What has already shipped

The roadmap recap also helps separate old promises from current features. Steam Workshop support, the first Bestiary structure, the Badge and score system, Traditional Chinese and Indonesian localization, and many new cards and relics have already been added during Early Access.

If you are waiting for one of those, check your branch and version before waiting for another update. Workshop setup is covered in the Steam Workshop and save guide, while the Bestiary guide explains how to turn revealed moves into fight preparation.

What is not confirmed

Several tempting headlines go beyond the source. None of these is confirmed:

  • a v0.112 release date;
  • the identity or mechanics of the new character;
  • the theme or encounter list for alternate Act 2;
  • whether experimental modes arrive before the character; or
  • a v1.0 date.

The August Q&A says Steam achievements are planned for v1.0. That is useful scope information, but it is not a launch window. Touchscreen and additional control work may also connect to future mobile-port work, with no date attached.

What to do with a current run

Do not postpone a run because a patch might appear. Finish important main-branch, co-op, and modded runs on the version where they began.

Before switching branches:

  1. Confirm the version shown in the client.
  2. Finish or back up a run that matters.
  3. Make sure every co-op player uses the same branch.
  4. Check that gameplay-affecting mods support the target build.
  5. Read the official notes after the update actually publishes.

Beta is useful when you want the newest card text and are willing to encounter changing balance. Main is the cleaner choice when consistency matters more than early access to a rework.

How this page will be updated

When Mega Crit names the next patch, this page will need changes to the quick answer, version table, and list of confirmed features. The August estimate was a lower bound, not a deadline; the September newsletter still supplies no exact date. Do not turn the elapsed time into an assumed October release.

Treat any more precise date as a prediction unless it links to a newer Mega Crit announcement. The patch hub keeps current strategy pages together, while the guide update log shows which advice has been refreshed after a release.
